Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, cea mai scumpa masina din lume


30 de milioane de dolari pentru un model din 1936, la o licitatie din California. Acest model a fost produs de Bugatti doar in trei exemplare…Unu-i norocos!!!!

A fost super masina in acea perioada (anii ’30) si a ajuns din nou pe piata dupa moartea fostului proprietar, Peter Williamson, un neurolog si cunoscut colectionar de masini.

Potrivit guardian.co.uk, licitatia a avut loc in Santa Monica, s-a anuntat si un pret record care insa nu a fost facut public  cu exactitate. Surse din interior au dat caprobabila  cifra de 30 de milioane de dolari.

Aceleasi surse spun ca noul proprietar ar fi Mullin Automotive Museum. Contactata, conducerea muzeului a negat ca ar fi intrat in posesia piesei rare, dar a tinut sa precizeze ca se duc tratative cu adevaratul proprietar pentru achizitionarea masinii.

Pana acum, recordul in materie de vanzari de masini vechi era detinut de un Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa 1957: 9 milioane de euro.

Sbarro sperie lumea la Geneva


Excentricul designer Franco Sbarro s-a gandit sa-l faca pe Batman gelos si a creat bau-baul tuturor masinilor. Masina (daca ne permite sa-i spunem asa) se numeste Sbarro Autobau si este un concept care a speriat Salonul Auto de la Geneva.

Imaginati-va cum ar fi sa vedeti in oglinda retrovizoare fata asta de aspirator a lui Sbarro Autobau. Am o vaga banuiala ca nu v-ati amuza, ci dimpotriva. Ati incerca prin orice mijloace sa scapati, sa-i faceti loc, sa nu va mai respire asa puternic in spate. Sau ma rog, sa nu va aspire cu totul…

Imaginati-va acum ca ati fi la volanul acestei chestii si ca v-ati distra de minune speriind pietonii si ceilalti participanti la trafic deopotriva. Iar daca s-ar gasi vreunul mai curajos care sa nu se dea la o parte din calea voastra, n-ar fi nici o problema. Acest supercar este propulsat de un motor V12 Ferrari de 500 CP, care se joaca cu cele 1.500 kg ale lui Autobau.

Sbarro i-a dedicat masina lui Fredy Lienhard, un pilot elvetian care a castigat cursa de 24 de ore de la Daytona din 2002. Nu stiu de ce, dar cred daca s-ar prezenta anul asta la Le Mans cu Autobau, palmaresul sau ar putea fi si mai stralucitor.

Sa presupunem prin absurd ca Sbarro ar vrea sa vanda intr-o zi niste Autobau-uri, asa ca sa mai faca un ban. Va imaginati ce rezultate ar avea masina la testele EuroNCAP, la capitolul protectia pietonilor? Poate ca unele masini e mai bine sa ramana doar concepte…

What’s a top car list without a Ferrari? The Enzo Ferrari has rightfully earned its place among the world’s most expensive cars with one of the brand’s most powerful cars of all time. The Enzo, named after Ferrari’s founder, is a 12-cylinder mid-engine street beast that uses F1 technology for body   construction , sequential transmission and braking. The result is a supercar that can accelerate to 60mph in 3.14 seconds toward a top speed of 220mph. Only 400 of the Enzo Ferrari were produced, and it isn’t likely any of its current owners would be foolish enough to let one of  these  go.

Jet-powered Ford guns for 300 mph


Joe Wilkins knew there was only one way to give his supercharged, alcohol-injected Hemi-engined hot rod more power: Put a jet engine in the trunk.

“It started as a hobby and turned into a monster,” said Joe Wilkins, the motor madman behind what might be the wildest 1939 Ford ever built. He’s an inventor and defense department contractor, and the idea of goosing the Ford’s ability to turn heads and shred tires came when he bought a used gas turbine engine.

“I got hooked on the simplicity and power that this thing produced, and I decided one day I want to put it in a car.”

Luckily for us, he did. The Hemi Jet — Wilkins has copyrighted the name — fires up this weekend at the Houston AutoRama, and Wilkins plans to attempt a land speed record in the near future.

Most people say “Nice car” and assume he’s got the obligatory small-block Chevrolet engine under the hood. Little do they know.

“I can drive it up to the store and get a gallon of milk if I want to,” he told Autopia.

The car is an amalgamation of the Big Three, with a Chrysler engine, Chevrolet drivetrain and Ford body. Wilkins says the jet engine was probably used as an APU and weighs 110 pounds.

He’s got some intense competition. The Bugatti Veyron tops out at 253 mph and the Shelby Supercars Ultimate Aero TT does 255. And then there’s Red Vector One, that crazy Vauxhall that does zero to 60 in under a second. Record, schmecord — we just want to see the video.

“I’m more than certain the car will go over 300,” Wilkins said. “We’ve still got a ways to go [before Bonneville], but not a long way. We’ll have to experiment in some wind tunnels and end up with a spoiler on the back to keep the front end on the ground.”

Sadly, Wilkins won’t be behind the wheel during the car’s test run.

“I turned 61 last Sunday. I just don’t think I’m going to be able to handle it [without] the reflexes I had 20 or 30 years ago,” he said. “I know several people who would be more than interested.”

Un bucureştean şi-a făcut o super-maşină


Pasionat de caii putere, dar şi de grafica şi design, un tânăr de 26 de ani din Bucureşti şi-a îndeplinit dorinţa de a avea o maşină unică în Romania.

Valeriu Ibănescu avea un VW Golf, dar voia mai mult. El şi-a imaginat cum va arăta maşina lui de vis şi a trecut la fapte. Kitul de tuning a fost creat special pentru el, la cererea lui şi costat peste 7.000 de euro. Şi motorul a suferit unele modificări, ajungând să aibă acum peste 180 CP.

“Din modelul original a rămas doar şasiul. Cel mai mult mă încantă faptul că prin acest proiect am reuşit să fac dintr-o maşină normală, un vehicul care are ”atitudine” pe şosele”, a declarat fericit posesorul maşinii.

Acum, Valeriu e încântat pentru că are singurul VW Golf GTI cu patru portiere, modificat, la noi din ţară.

O coloană de maşini de peste 2 km a încercat să bată un record mondial la Braşov

O coloană de maşini de peste doi kilometri s-a format sâmbătă la ieşirea din Braşov spre Sfântu Gheorghe. Nici vorbă de vreun incident în trafic, ci pur şi simplu o coloană organizată şi supravegheată atent de poliţişti. Iubitorii unei mărci auto de provenienţă asiatică au încercat astfel să omologheze un nou record mondial.

Ca să fie siguri că reuşesc să participe la eveniment, cei care au în comun pasiunea pentru aceeaşi marcă de maşină s-au întâlnit la ieşirea din Braşov cu mult înainte de ora stabilită. După ce au încolonat aproape 300 de maşini pe mai bine de 2 kilometri ai Drumului Naţional 11, participanţii au plecat încolonaţi spre Bran, unde au încins o petrecere.

Pentru omologarea recordului, clubul care reuneşte fanii maşinii asiatice vor trimite la Guiness Book imagini şi fotografii realizate de participanţi.

2009 HUMMER H2 SUT

2010 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Base ML350

The M-Class SUV is the original luxury sport utility in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. Comfortably sized, it seats five with room for plenty of luggage, drives like a sedan, and is a capable off-roader.
